At Taunton Pet Stores, we are dedicated to providing the best products and services for your beloved pets. Our knowledgeable staff are always ready to help you find the perfect items for your furry friends.
Taunton Pet Stores was originally founded in 1967 by Roy and Betty Whitehead.
Starting with outdoor market stalls in and around Tameside they enlisted the help of their children and eventually grandchildren to help run the family business. Setting up a permanent stall in Hyde Market Hall Betty and Roy alongside their son David ran the stall together until they both retired and David took over.
The out door markets stopped over the years with the popularity of outdoor markets dwindling and competition from shops reducing footfall but the indoor market stall continued to serve regular and new customers in Hyde 6 days a week all year round.
David retired in 2025 and the stall is now ran and owned by his daughter Hayley and her partner Terry, with the help of their children Callum, Daisy and occasional visits from toddler Skye, it continues to be a popular family run business at the heart of Hyde.
